Modal Analysis of Beams Using Finite Element Methods

In this development, a modal analysis of free-free and fixed-free beams undergoing free vibration is investigated in Ansys APDL (15.0) based on Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and analytically using Euler-Bernoulli beam theory. In addition, the natural frequencies for the free-free beam are found to be much higher than those of the cantilever beam and the natural frequencies enlarge by increasing the mode number in both of the cases.
